What's Happening This Week In Harrison

HARRISON, N.Y. – School meetings, library events and a karate class highlight this week’s events in Harrison and West Harrison.

Monday, Sept. 24

Storyland: 10:30 to 11 a.m. Children ages 3-5 will read stories, listen to songs and do other activities. Siblings are welcome. Harrison Public Library, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Story time: 10:30 to 11 a.m. Children ages 3-5 years old can participate in this event at the West Harrison Library, 2 Madison St., West Harrison. 

Computer orientation: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. This West Harrison Library class is for people to learn the computerized library catalog and the Internet. 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Board games: 4 to 5 p.m. Friends and family members of all ages can roll the dice and play some old-fashioned board games in the Friends of the Library-sponsored event at the Harrison Public Library, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Parsons Memorial Elementary Open House: 7 p.m. This event will take place at Parsons Memorial Elementary School. 200 Halstead Ave., Harrison.

Presentation at Harrison Library:  7 to 8 p.m. Patrick Raftery, from the Westchester County Historical Society will talk and give a slideshow presentation entitled “From Wigwams to Corporate Headquarters.” 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison

Tuesday, Sept. 25

Computer Orientation: 10 to 11 a.m. This Harrison Public Library class is for people to learn the computerized library catalog and the Internet. 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

ESL Course: 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The West Harrison Library will be offering the Westchester Community College English Language Institute course for beginners. Books for the course cost $35. 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Open Play: 11 a.m. to noon. Parents, grandparents, caregivers and children can meet up to cool off, play, read and have fun at the West Harrison Library, 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Crafts for All Ages: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Kids can come in and make a craft at the West Harrison Library, 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Karate Class: 5:30 p.m. The Harrison Karate Club meets at the Mintzer Center. For more information, call 914-949-5265. 251 Underhill Ave., West Harrison.

Wednesday, Sept. 26 (Schools closed in observance of Yom Kippur)

Circle Time for Tots: 10 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 to 11:30 a.m. Children ages 1-3 are invited to the Harrison Public Library for story time, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.?

Purchase Elementary Welcome Back BBQ Purchase: 5:30 to 8 p.m. The school will host a barbeque for the beginning of school. 2995 Purchase St., Purchase.
