Harrison Library Hosts Reception For Artist Norma Foege

HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Harrison Public Library will host an opening reception on Monday for artist Norma Foege, whose exhibit "Melange" is now on display.

Foege's work includes landscapes, still life and portraits, depicted in a cross between representation and abstraction. She began painting as a child at the Brooklyn Museum, where Moses Soyer was her instructor. She continued her studies at the Pratt Institute, New York University, Hunter College, City College of New York, the Art Students’ League, Silvermine, and the Rye Art Center. She studied oil painting in Paris for two years and exhibited at the Salon des Independents in the Grand Palais.

Foege received a master's degree in studio art from the College of New Rochelle, a master's degree in education from Brooklyn College and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Brooklyn College. She was a teacher for 35 years before retiring to focus more on her painting and music.

Her work will be on display at the library until Aug. 30. The opening reception will be held at the library, 2 Bruce Ave., from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
