Hankin, who was one of the nation’s longest-serving community college presidents has died at the age of 78. The college announced Thursday, Jan. 17 that Hankin died on Wednesday, Jan. 16. He first took over at the college in 1971 and served 42 years at the helm until his retirement in 2013. Hankin was a significant member of the team that expanded the Westchester Community College Foundation, which has raised substantial resources in support of faculty and staff. The incident took place around 7:24 a.m. Friday on Grasslands Road in Mount Pleasant after the bus, heading west up a hill near the Westchester Community College, skidded on ice, said Mount Pleasant Police Capt. Man Killed In Greenburgh Crash Between Car, Tow Truck A crash between a tow truck and a car left one person dead and closed down a major Westchester road for hours. The unidentified man was killed around 9:25 p.m. Wednesday on Knollwood Road in the vicinity of North Manor Road in the Town of Greenburgh, said Greenburgh Police Lt. Kobie Powell. The son of Stanley and Sharon Tvert, Daniel graduated from Saunders High School and Westchester Community College.  An avid lover of food, he worked as a chef in many restaurants in New York and New Jersey. Daniel is survived by his brothers Steven and wife Ana (Rocha), his twin brother Scott & wife Jennifer (Cacciatore), niece Ava, nephews Nicholas, Christopher and Matthew, his uncle Ron and aunt Meg, his cousins Lori, Blake and Cole.
