Crews had to race to save a Home of the Whopper in Westchester after a fire broke out inside the fast food restaurant. The incident happened on Saturday evening, Oct. 7 at a Burger King in Elmsford located at 265 East Main St. (Route 119), where crews were called to respond to a working fire, according to the Elmsford Fire Department. The incident happened on Wednesday, Sept. 20 around 6 a.m., when emergency crews in Valhalla responded to a crash on Grasslands Road near the Sprain Brook Parkway off-ramp. A raging blaze involving two cars sent firefighters on an early morning trip to a school in Northern Westchester. The fire happened on Sunday, July 9 around 1:30 a.m., when members of the Valhalla Fire Department were sent to the EF Academy in Thornwood, where a vehicle had gone up in flames in the parking lot. Three people were injured during a three-vehicle crash involving a city bus in Westchester County. The accident occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 17, in Valhalla on Grasslands Road and the ramp from the Sprain Brook Parkway. Units arrived on the scene of the accident which also involved a bus and crews immediately assisted with patient care and packaging as well as taking care of a fluid spill, said Capt. Matt DiPrinzio of the Valhalla Fire Department Those injured were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, DiPrinzio added.

A volunteer firefighter from Westchester County has died at the age of 36. Christopher Colasacco died on Wednesday, Jan. 19, according to his obituary. He was a graduate of Harrison High School and worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Harrison. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Harrison Fire Department, the Valhalla Fire Department and the West Harrison Fire Department, his obituary reads.
