One day after welcoming students back to some school buildings, a school district in Westchester is facing its first COVID-19 crisis. On Monday, Oct. 19, the New Rochelle School District transitioned to its hybrid learning model, with some of its youngest students returning to in-person learning. A new positive case of COVID-19 has been reported at a high school in the Hudson Valley. The Monroe-Woodbury School District said that a Monroe-Woodbury High School student tested positive. As a result, the high school has switched to remote learning from Wednesday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 16. Two new cases of COVID-19 have been reported at one of the largest school districts in Northern Westchester. The Bedford Central School District said it learned of the cases -- one from Fox Lane Middle School and the other at Fox Lane High School -- on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Two more schools in the Hudson Valley are closed for in-person learning after positive cases of COVID-19. Travelers from one new state have been added to the COVID-19 joint quarantine list of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The new state added on Tuesday, Sept. 29 is Colorado. Twenty students at Pace University's Westchester campus have tested positive for COVID-19, university officials said. Four students tested positive on Monday, Sept. 21, prompting the university to test nearly 600 community members, according to Pace's director of public affairs, Jerry McKinstry. Several educators at a school district in Westchester have tested positive for COVID-19, but the district remains on track to transition to its hybrid learning model next month.
