Major Water Main Break Affects Service Throughout Much Of White Plains Officials are warning residents that they may encounter brown water following a major water main break that affected service throughout an entire city in Westchester.  The water break happened in the downtown area of White Plains on Wednesday, March 27 around 11:30 a.m., according to White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach.  The large break affected water service for residents throughout the city. Water Shut Off For Hundreds In Westchester After Main Break Hundreds in Westchester woke up without water as a main break caused trouble for city employees as they worked to make repairs overnight. The Yonkers Department of Public Works was forced to perform an emergency water shutdown late on Monday, Aug. 16, heading into Tuesday, Aug. 17, due to a main break that impacted certain city neighborhoods.
