In Putnam County, first responders from the Cold Spring and North Highlands fire departments were called to the Cornish Estate Trail in the Hudson Highlands State Preserve late on Saturday, March 19, where there were reports of three hikers who were stuck and unable to move. 25-Year-Old Killed In Two-Vehicle Route 9 Crash A 25-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on a stretch of Route 9 on early Saturday morning, April 13, in Putnam County. At approximately 6:20 a.m., state police responded to northbound Route 9 north of State Route 301 in Philipstown. An initial investigation found that a 2018 Dodge Challenger operated by Isaiah Byars, age 25, of Derry, NH, was northbound on Route 9, and for unknown reasons entered the southbound lane, state police said.  Byars’ vehicle then struck a southbound 2015 Jeep Cherokee, according to police.
