Lifelong Member Of Fire Department In Westchester, Army Vet Dies
A community in Northern Westchester is mourning the loss of a lifelong firefighter who dedicated his life to public service. Hawthorne resident Robert McKechnie died on Tuesday, May 16 at the age of 86, according to his obituary. Born in 1937, McKechnie graduated from James Bryant High School in Queens and soon after graduation, went on begin a 40-year career at Pepsi. Pink Flamingo On Hudson? It Was All Part Of Pepsi Marketing Campaign
Did you see it? A huge, six-stories tall inflatable pink flamingo on top of a vessel made its way up the Hudson River. Pushed on a barge by a tugboat, the helium-filled bird was first spotted around 8 a.m. Monday, May 20 during the height of the morning commute. It was all part of a Pepsi "Always Pool Ready" campaign to celebrate the unofficial start of summer, the soft drink manufacturer said. Prime Vacant Office Space Soars To 62 Percent In Northern Westchester
According to the latest quarterly report by JLL, the vacancy rate for office space has hit 62 percent in Northern Westchester, more than three times higher than submarkets in southern Westchester, which have a combined vacancy rate of approximately 20 percent. JLL's research from the third quarter of 2017 also founds rents are down in general and that countywide, the vacancy rate is nearing 25 percent -- nearly five percent higher than 2013.
