Longtime Northern Westchester Firefighter Dies At 56: Remembered For Life Of Service A Northern Westchester community is mourning the sudden loss of veteran firefighter and Hudson Valley resident Christopher Johanson, who dedicated his life to service and his family.  Johanson, a 24-year veteran firefighter with the Lake Mohegan Fire Department, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Dec. 26, at his home in Cold Spring at the age of 56, according to his obituary.  Johanson, badge number 61, joined the Lake Mohegan Fire Department in August 2000 and was most recently assigned to Station 2, the Jefferson Valley Firehouse.  In a memorial post on social media, t…

Missing Man Found At Night After Long Search In Westchester Nature Preserve Thanks to the perseverance of police and first responders, a missing man was successfully found at a Northern Westchester nature preserve following a nighttime search.  The hiker was reported missing on Wednesday night, Sept. 11, when police and firefighters were requested to help search for them at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in the area of Michigan Road, according to the Bedford Police Department.  The hiker had already been missing for several hours and did not have enough battery power left to dial 911 at 10 p.m. when Bedford Police joined the search along with the Pound Ridg…
