Suspect Nabbed For Shooting Repo Man, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a man who was attempting to repossess a car. The incident took place in Dutchess County in the City of Poughkeepsie around 2:10 a.m., Thursday, May 5. Officers responded to South Avenue after receiving a call from a man saying he had been shot while attempting to repossess a car, said Det. Lt. Matt Clark, of the city of Poughkeepsie Police. A new indictment has been filed against a former police officer in three Westchester municipalities and one in Dutchess who may face the death penalty after allegedly being involved in the murders of four men in Orange County in 2016. A 26-year-old man may face death after he was charged with murdering someone earlier this year to benefit his marijuana distribution ring, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman announced on Thursday. Barry Johnson of Mount Vernon has been charged with aiding and abetting the murder of David DeGrace on Aug. 26 to further a drug distribution conspiracy. Johnson was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 20 in Mount Vernon and appeared in court later in the day. Off-Duty Officer Admits Firing Gun On Westchester Residential Street
An off-duty police officer has surrendered himself into custody after pleading guilty to unlawfully firing his service weapon without cause. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced that Orville Kitson, a Mount Vernon Police Officer pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of prohibited use of a weapon after surrendering himself at Scarpino’s office on Friday morning.
