A Hudson Valley man has been convicted for his part in the illegal commercialization of elephant ivory worth more than $70,000.
Rockland County resident Kenneth Kerner, age 59, of Clarkstown, was convicted on Thursday, Feb. 22 after pleading guilty to the crime on Thursday, Feb. 8, said the New State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and New York County District Attorney’s Office.

Two men have been apprehended after federal authorities say they planned to commit a home invasion robbery for tens of millions of dollars in bitcoin in Westchester.
Federal officials announced the unsealing of an Indictment in White Plains Federal Court on Friday, June 24m charging the duo with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery in May 2020 in Irvington-on-Hudson.
Dominic Pineda, age 21, of Manassas, Virginia, and Shon Morgan, also age 21, of Centreville, Virginia, were arrested on Thursday, June 23 in Virginia.

Man Convicted For Murders Of Mother, Daughter In Hudson Valley
A Hudson Valley man has been convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend and her mother.
A Rockland County jury found Robert C. Williams III, age 32, of Hillcrest, guilty on all charges, including first-degree murder Tuesday, April 19.
Prosecutors said Williams shot and killed Kathleen Castor, age 27, and Wanda Castor, age 63 at a home on Lake Road in Valley Cottage on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Kathleen Castor had an order of protection against Williams after their relationship ended, prosecutors said.
Her one-month-old baby was found alive and uninjured following the killings.

Westchester Man Killed In Double-Fatal Crash ID'd As First Responder
One of the victims of a wrong-way head-on double fatal crash on the Palisades Parkway was a Northern Westchester County emergency medical technician.
Aristan Garandeau, age 22, of Croton-on-Hudson, died around 2:40 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 6 in Clarkstown, said the New York State Police.
Garandeau was traveling in the wrong direction on the parkway when he hit another car head-on driven by Brendan Seabrook, 27, of Pennsylvania, who was also killed, said state police.
Garandeau was pronounced dead at the scene. Seabrook was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital where he later died.

New York State Police have released the identities of two people killed in a head-on, wrong-way crash on the Palisades Parkway over the weekend.
Northern Westchester County resident Aristan Garandeau, age 22, of Croton-on- Hudson, and Brendan Seabrook, age 27, of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, were killed around 2:39 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 6.
