Overnight Burglars Hit 4 Gas Stations, Remove ATM From 1 In Westchester: Police
Authorities are investigating a string of overnight burglaries at four gas stations in Northern Westchester, including one that involved the removal of an ATM machine.
The incidents happened over Thursday night, Sept. 21, and Friday morning, Sept. 22 at four gas stations in Bedford, according to Bedford Police Det. Matt Whalen.
The four gas stations in Bedford Hills and Katonah that were hit include:
Bedford Shell, located at 848 South Bedford Rd.;

27-Year-Old Charged With Burglarizing Homes In Westchester, Police Say
A 27-year-old man has been nabbed for burglarizing two homes in Northern Westchester, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was charged with burglarizing two homes in Briarcliff Manor on Saturday, Aug. 5, the village's police department announced on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
The suspect, who is from the Bronx, was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary in addition to other charges, police said.
The investigation into the burglaries is still ongoing, and more arrests may be made, authorities added.

Man Steals Over $50K Of Jewelry From Westchester Store, Pawns It: Police
A 28-year-old man faces numerous charges after smashing the window of a jewelry store, taking more than $50,000 worth of merchandise, and pawning much of it in Westchester, police said.
The arrest stemmed from an incident on Wednesday, July 19, when Yorktown Police were sent to Yorktown Jewelers at 322 Kear St. around 3 a.m. when a burglary was reported.

Man Sentenced In Case Of Missing Hudson Valley Woman
A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to prison for the death of an area woman and then dumping her body, which was never found, in a landfill.
Orange County resident Matthew Mercado, age 40, of Newburgh, was sentenced to a total of 16 to 19 years in prison for the incident which took place on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at the Windsor Hotel in the town of New Windsor, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
In August 2022, Mercado pled guilty to manslaughter burglary, and tampering with physical evidence, in connection with the death of 36-year-old Jessica Lopez, of Newburgh.
