A man faces numerous charges after allegedly stealing catalytic converters from vehicles throughout the Hudson Valley and Connecticut, including one that was parked at a high school, police said. The arrest stemmed from an incident that happened on Thursday, March 23 around 3 p.m., when a Putnam County sheriff's deputy assigned as a school resource officer at Putnam Valley High School was told that a vehicle parked in the school's lot had a catalytic converter stolen from it. The job never stops for an off-duty police chief in Westchester who helped track down several minors who allegedly robbed an elderly man. Following the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida last month, education officials in Bronxville will increase police presence after meeting with a security firm to complete a safety audit of the district. The Bronxville Police Department is increasing their presence and patrols around local schools in the wake of the fatal shooting at a Florida high school earlier this week. In a letter to parents, Bronxville Schools Superintendent Roy Montesano said that there would be an increased police presence around schools, and there will be officers conducting walkthroughs of the buildings as a precaution.
