Bear Caught On Camera In Westchester: Here's Where
Residents in Northern Westchester, stay bear-aware: one of the massive animals was seen strolling behind a home in the area, officials said. The bear was seen walking behind a residence in North Salem on Titicus Road near the Baxter Preserve, North Salem Supervisor Warren Lucas said in a post on social media. Man Injured By Black Bear While Checking Noise Outside Home In Area
A New York man was injured by a black bear after going outside to see what was in his garbage can. The attack happened around 11 p.m., Friday, June 4 in Sullivan County in the hamlet of Rock Hill. The homeowner heard a noise near the trash containers, went outside, and was reportedly scratched by the bear, said officials with the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The man received mild injuries but was transported to the hospital for treatment, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office said. Brand-New Sighting: Black Bear Finds Its Own Way To Enjoy Sunday Brunch
There have been dozens of reported black bear sightings in the area the last month. Including at a golf course. Even a cemetery. And now, most recently, a bear in the Hudson Valley making its own morning meal with the contents of garbage cans. One of the first bear sightings of the New Year has been reported in the area. It happened on Wednesday, Jan. 8 near the Putnam County/Dutchess border where a Pawling resident received a surprise when she checked her home's surveillance camera feed and found an unexpected visitor: a black bear. New Bear Sightings Reported In Westchester
There have been new black bear sightings in the area. The latest report comes out of Northern Westchester, where the police department received two calls on Wednesday regarding bear sightings in the village. Croton-on-Hudson Police said that the first call came at approximately 1:25 p.m. in the area of Cleveland Drive, while the second sighting was reported at 2 p.m. on Mountain Trail.
