ALBANY, N.Y. The Irvington Bulldogs girls continued their run in state basketball competition Friday, using a strong second half to defeat Catholic High Schools champion OHara 74-57 in the semifinals of the New York State Class B Federation Tournament.
Irvington (25-1), the New York State Public Schools champion, will face Long Island Lutheran, the defending Federation champion, Saturday morning. It is the third straight year the two teams have met in the Federation tournament. The winner of the Federation Tournament can lay claim to being the best team in Class B girls basketball.
Lexi Martins scored 12 of her game-high 24 points in the third quarter as the Bulldogs stretched a four-point halftime lead to 48-38 after three quarters. Martins also grabbed 16 rebounds and keyed the interior defense.
Brittni Lai added 21 points and seven rebounds and Marley Giddins added 20 points for Irvington.
