Aslanian, a five-year varsity wrestler and twice a New York State Division II finalist, now has 155 varsity wins after going 9-0 at the tournament on Long Island. Aslanian, who will attend Princeton next fall, surpassed former teammate Genta Muryama, who finished with 150 wins.
“Trey’s milestone this weekend is a testament to the consistent hard work he has put in for many years,” Edgemont coach Pete Jacobson said. “An accomplishment of this magnitude is obviously something that does not happen overnight and is really unique, because it shows a commitment that dates back to fourth grade to become the best he can be.
“For a student-athlete to show that kind of dedication, spanning back so far, really demonstrates how special Trey is.”
A three-time Section 1 Division II champion, Aslanian is currently 18-0 on the season and is a favorite to add a fourth sectional title in February.
