Ardsley Almanac: Recreation Department

18 Center Street, Ardsley, N.Y. 10502, (914) 693-8012 The Village of Ardsley provides a variety of recreation and sports programs for residents and for students of the Ardsley School District. The community center on Center Street features a large party room with a pool table, ping-pong table, big screen television, kitchen and restroom facilities. The community center is open for youth activities and senior citizens programs, and is the site for a variety of classes, community group meetings and other functions. Classes offered include youth and adult basketball, and preschool soccer and music. A senior bus regularly provides transportation from the community center to shopping areas and to the Embassy Club in Dobbs Ferry for lunch, Monday through Friday. The Recreation Department maintains and oversees all village parks, including Ashford Park, which features lighted tennis courts, a softball field, a basketball court, soccer fields, a playground, a skate park and picnic areas, and McDowell Park, which has four baseball diamonds, a basketball court and a picnic pavilion. Six small parks are located throughout the community. Ashford Park also hosts the annual Park day, tennis tournament, and 5-K Run, as well as the annual Garage Sale. Special events include a Halloween parade, a holiday tree lighting ceremony and programs for children and adults.
