Elmsford’s Alice E. Grady Students Donate Candy To Troops

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Students in Elmsford’s Alice E. Grady School are selling their leftover Halloween candy to Suffern dentist Dr. Steven M. Chichetti, of Ramapo Dental Care, who is part of Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends about 150,000 care packages a year to troops deployed overseas.

The money that Chichetti paid will fund the school’s student council activities.

Math teacher Barrie Hittner led the students in grades two-six in the program. Children practiced ratios, fractions, decimals and percentages during the collection.

The children filled five printer-paper boxes with 129 pounds of candy.
