Gerald Martin, 46, was charged with first-degree criminal contempt at 8:30 p.m. following his arrest by members of the county police Patrol Task Force, county police reported Wednesday, May 7.
Martin was located by officers in the parking lot of an apartment building on Central Avenue in Greenburgh, the report said.
Sgt. Brian Hess and Police Officer Christopher Perricone went to the building after developing information that Martin had an acquaintance who lived there. When officers arrived, they observed Martin speaking with the acquaintance in a back parking lot and took him into custody.
According to county police public information officer Kieran O'Keary, Martin has been charged on two previous occasions in recent weeks by New York State Police with violating a court-issued order of protection that bars him from contacting his estranged wife. He was sought again on Tuesday after his estranged wife reported that Martin had left a letter at her home in Cortlandt and then was waiting outside the courthouse for her.
Martin was booked at county police headquarters in Hawthorne and was held overnight. He was to be arraigned Wednesday, May 7, in White Plains City Court.
