Elwood Nesser of 108 Sport Hill Road in Redding appeared at Greenburgh Police Headquarters with his attorney.
Nesser was charged with one count of second-degree assault, a Class D felony. He was arraigned in Greenburgh Town Court before Judge Delores Braithwaite and released on $25,000 bond. He is due for another Town Court appearance on Friday Feb. 13.
The arrest stems from an incident at 1:10 a.m. Jan. 1 when Greenburgh police responded to an assault in the parking lot of 77 Knollwood Road, White Plains. Officers found a 39-year-old male who suffered head trauma after being struck numerous times with a blunt instrument.
The initial investigation determined that the victim was at a New Year's Eve party hosted by the Royal Palace Restaurant, 77 Knollwood Road. Shortly after leaving the party, the victim was attacked by at least two suspects with a blunt instrument, police said. The victim sustained head trauma and was hospitalized.
Capt. Brian J. Ryan, commander of the Detective Division, said an investigation led to Nesser as a suspect in the assault.
