The establishments raided were Locations: Jade Spa, 698 South Central Ave., and Charming Spa on 390 South Central Ave., according to Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner. Feiner noted that neither establishment had a licensed massage therapist present or working at the time of the arrests.
Members of the Greenburgh Police Drug and Alcohol Task Force, Detective Division and Street Crime Unit made the arrests after completing a short-term investigation. Town Building Department personnel assisted investigators and their investigation is ongoing.
The names of those charged, who were released on bail after being booked and charged, were not immediately released.
The Greenburgh Town Board passed a local law that will give officials the authority to permanently close down establishments which continually employ unlicensed masseuses. The deadline for existing businesses to comply with the requirements of the local law is October.
