Volunteers from the Elmsford Fire Department were called to 86 East Main St. shortly before 10 a.m.

The one-and-a-half story building -- near the intersection of Route 9A and Route 119 -- that houses Hero's was formerly the site of Gaulin's Restaurant as well as the NY Firehouse Grille.

Village of Elmsford police said no one was hurt and the fire was put out quickly.

Firefighters got the blaze under control within 15 minutes. Investigators were trying to determine its exact cause and the extent of damage about noon Wednesday.
