At approximately 2:19 p.m., state police from the Hawthorne barracks responded to the area of Mile Post Marker 7.6 northbound on the Sprain after a report of a one-car collision.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a Nissan Pathfinder operated by Donnie T. McCray of the Bronx was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, state police said. McCray’s vehicle exited the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree, according to police.

McCray was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Westchester Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition. McCray’s passenger, Terrance Gray, 49 years old, of Brooklyn, was transported to Westchester Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
