ELMSFORD, N.Y. - Sylvia D. McKinnon of Elmsford died June 16. She was 78.
McKinnon was born in Plattsburgh, to Mary Ann Louise Arquette and Estaban Francisco Duran. She worked for AT&T for 24 years. She was a member of OLMC Parish, Rosary Society, Parish Council, and taught CCD and at the SMART program at Alice E. Grady.
McKinnon is survived by her siblings, Stephen Duran, Shirley Wagner, Alan Duran, and Ray Duran; children, Diane (Stephen) Kolenda, Loretta (Carl) Lachman, Jeanine (Nicholas) Cosentino, Robert (Donna) Coccaro Jr., and Stephanie Coccaro; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her second husband, Bennett M. McKinnon.
Calling hours are Wednesday, June 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Ballard - Durand Funeral Home in Elmsford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford. Interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in McKinnon's name to the American Cancer Society or Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
