Mary Roberta Stewart, 98, Of Greenburgh, Worked For New York Telephone Co.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - Mary Roberta Stewart of Greenburgh died May 12. She was 98.

Stewart was one of the first African-American people employed at New York Telephone Company, where she retired after 34 years. She was a life member of the NAACP. She was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in White Plains, where at times she served officially, but always unofficially as "Head" usher.

Calling hours will be Friday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. immediately followed by funeral at 12 p.m. all at Calvary Baptist Church, 188 Orawaupum St., White Plains, NY 10606. Burial at  Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla.
