Village Officials Committee Receives Award

The New York Conference of Mayors honored the Village Officials Committee (VOC) for its efforts to save money using joint programs and services with a Second Place award for Public Management and Administration.

Tarrytown Mayor Drew Fixell accepted the award during a ceremony in Saratoga in May.

“I am pleased to accept this award on behalf of my fellow Mayors and colleagues,” Fixell said. “We

came together for one purpose…to save the taxpayers money while continuing to provide the

services our residents deserve. It is especially satisfying that NYCOM has recognized

the tremendous success we have had in fulfilling that mission."

The VOC serves the Town of Greenburgh and the Villages of Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry, Elmsford, Hastings-on-Hudson, Irvington, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. It was founded in 2003 by the incorporated villages of the Town of Greenburgh. The Village of Sleepy Hollow joined last year.

The committee’s efforts have led to sharing vehicles and equipment, joint road resurfacing and joint maintenance contracts which has results in more than $500,000 in savings for taxpayers, according to a press release from the VOC.
