Truck Thieves Hit Scarsdale Ford

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – Thieves with a penchant for pick-up trucks hit a Scarsdale dealership last week, making off with several vehicles.

Greenburgh Police are searching for the culprits behind the theft of four vehicles, worth more than $80,000 combined, from Scarsdale Ford sometime on March 18 or early in the morning on March 19.

Dealership employees discovered the missing vehicles, a 2010 Ford F-150, a 2011 Ford F-150 and 2008 Ford F-555, on Monday, March 19 when the dealership opened.

The model of the fourth vehicle was not immediately available.

Police responded to the 887 South Central Ave. dealership where they found broken window glass around the parking lot.  Ford employees told police that the lock boxes were left on the vehicle’s driver side window and may have been broken to get a hold of the keys, police said.

The vehicles were last seen in the lot Saturday when the shop closed. Scarsdale Ford isn’t open on Sunday.

Police said they have no security footage of the thieves and the shopping center security that patrols the lot doesn’t work overnight.

In the past, a similar case had cropped up in nearby Yonkers, police said. There, several vehicles were stolen from a Ford lot by a car theft ring.

The vehicles were recovered by Yonker’s Police after the group attempted to sell the stolen vehicles on Craigslist.
