Christ Reyling, a Hartsdale resident and crew chief for Orange and Rockland Long Distance Trails, along with six crew members, received the Paul Leikin Extra Mile Award for their work on a Catskill project that moved tremendous amounts of rock and dirt to reroute 9 miles of the Long Path from the road to a trail over three mountains.

The Leikin award recognizes those volunteers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to projects such as a book, map or advocacy. Rich Weiler, an Irvington resident, received the Distinguished Service Award for trail maintenance work in Harriman State Park. Weiler was recognized for his work on the Timp-Torne Trail and the Appalachian Trail.

The Distinguished Service award is given by the Trail Conference Volunteer Committee to recognize significant service or a special achievement by Trail Conference volunteers.
