The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 37-year-old Rhony Sanchez, who has moved from Elmsford to a residence on Saw Mill River Road in Ardsley.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Rhony as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."
Sanchez, a former Yonkers resident, served as a swimming instructor at the JCC for more than a decade. According to reports, an investigative team from the Westchester County District Attorney’s office discovered that Sanchez was purchasing and sharing child pornography on the Internet before arresting him.
Upon learning of his arrest, the JCC suspended Sanchez from his job, barred him from the premises and sent an email to parents alerting them of the situation.
Sanchez was arrested in Scarsdale in 2016 and convicted of two counts of promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child under 17 years old. He was sentenced to 10 years probation. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Elmsford Village Police Department.
