GREENBURGH, N.Y. The case against a Baldwin man accused of slapping his soon-to-be neighbor in the face at a town meeting has been adjourned.
Greenburgh Town Justice Delores Brathwaite suspended Friday's hearing for Micha Marom, who has been charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, until next month.
Marom has yet to enter a plea in the case, according to court records.
The charges against Marom stem from a Feb. 16 incident at the Greenburgh Zoning Board of Appeals meeting.
Marom, 60, is accused of slapping a 58-year-old woman in the face after a verbal dispute following a public comment period.
Both Marom and the victim were at the meeting to hear discussion about a variance Marom had requested from the town in an effort to legalize the construction of a home at 201 South Healy Ave.
Neighbors are upset because of the size of the large, circular home.
According to Rocco Salerno, the husband of the woman who was slapped, he and his wife were leaving the hearing when Marom accused them of making things up.
Salerno said that is when his wife called Marom a liar before he turned around, cursed at her and slapped her across the face.
While the alleged incident isn't visible on the town's recording of the meeting, a loud slapping sound can be heard before a womans voice yells I just called him a liar and he slapped me in the face.
A large commotion ensued followed by a mans voice as he talks on the phone with the Greenburgh Police Department.
I want him arrested, the victim said.
Marom wasn't immediately available for comment. He is scheduled to reappear in Greenburgh Town Court on April 24.
