Greenburgh Residents Enjoy Farmer's Mkt, Miss A&P

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Greenburgh residents are happy with the new Tuesday farmer's market at Crossroads Plaza.

“It’s a wonderful thing to have this farmer's market over here,” said Magdalena Reel, who lives at Oak Street, on the other side of Tarrytown Road.

Betty Silchenstedt, of Elmsford, went to the market Tuesday at noon with her husband Eric Day and bought okra, lettuce, strawberries and eggplant.

“I am a nurse, so I know the value of eating healthy,” she said.

Reel, however, pointed out that the farmer's market is still not a replacement for the A&P grocery store that used to exist in the plaza and closed in April.

“There’s a lot of people in my building that don’t have a car,” Reel said, referring to her senior neighbors. “We need a supermarket here. We need it.”
