Greenburgh Police Bust Four for Drugs

GREENBURGH, N.Y. - Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force members arrested four people after responding to a report of drug activity in the area of Maple Street and Warren Avenue in White Plains Friday at 8:40 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers said they saw one person who quickly placed a small item in his left rear pants pocket, which later was determined to be crack cocaine. Two other suspects were observed with plastic bags containing marijuana and a fourth suspect had a burnt marijuana cigarette.

Police charged a 19-year-old Mount Vernon man with criminal possession of a controlled substance and a 23-year-old Mount Vernon woman and two White Plains men, ages 21 and 18, with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Safe and Sound: A 92-year-old Hartsdale woman reported receiving a call Jan. 31 at 12:44 p.m. from an unknown person stating her grandson was in trouble in Lima, Peru and needed $2,800 wired through Western Union. The resident called police after confirming her grandson was safe in California.

Property Recovered: A caller from Citibank on Central Avenue reported several males attempting to break into vehicles in parking lot on Jan. 31 about 6:30 p.m. A black Chrysler 300 was seen leaving the parking lot heading south on Central Avenue, police said. The vehicle then made a U-turn to head north before being stopped by officers. An investigation of the vehicle discovered an Apple Macbook Pro Laptop, PlayStation 3 console, children's toys, several credit cards and an unknown amount of foreign currency. A 40-year-old Brooklyn man and a 33-year-old Tacoma, Washington man were arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana and petit larceny.
