Now his teammates on the Ardsley High School varsity football team are backing him up with a spaghetti dinner on Nov. 15 at the Ardsley Firehouse.
Hoobraj's mother, Shivonie was diagnosed with late stage and aggressive cancer last year, with a life expectancy of 18 months. In addition to dealing with leukemia, she is facing the concerns of the ongoing sole support and care of her boys and huge medical bills.
Since starting his Go-Fund-Me page, Hoobraj has raised nearly $24,000 from 347 donors.
The Ardsley Panther Varsity Football team is rallying behind their teammate and his family and is planning the spaghetti dinner to inspire support and help raise funds.
The dinner will last from noon to 5 p.m. and the entrance fee is $15 per person, $5 for children 6-10 and free for children under 5.
In addition to the spaghetti dinner fundraiser, the Ardsley Panther Booster Club is establishing a fund to assist the Hoojrab family with medical treatment costs and care for the boys. Donations at the dinner, and checks may also be mailed to the school.
