In Fortune Magazine's 2023 “50 Best Places to Live for Families” ranking, the Westchester County town of Greenburgh came in at No. 9, beating out dozens of other municipalities around the country, and ranking as best in the Empire State.
What makes Greenburgh one of the best in the nation, Fortune claims, includes its proximity to New York City while still delivering a “small-town charm in a leafy landscape of rolling hills.”
With historic residences to visit, outdoor recreation galore, and a 93% high school graduation rate, it’s clear that the town suits residents of all types.
“Thank you - to all our residents, town employees, officials, civic leaders - for making Greenburgh a very special place to live and work,” said Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner in a statement.
“We will continue to work hard to make Greenburgh even better.”
Fortune’s ranking is based on multiple factors focused on the needs of multigenerational families, many of which are responsible for the care of both children and senior citizens.
It took into account education, livability, aging resources, and more, as well as highlighting diverse neighborhoods and eliminating cities where home prices were more than twice as high as the state median.
This year is the first time the list has featured one city from each state.
