The blaze began at around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 inside a garage at a home on Giglio Court in Croton-on-Hudson, according to the village's fire department.
Arriving fire crews found two burning vehicles inside the garage, and discovered that the flames were extending to the home and surrounding brush.
Firefighters then spread several hose lines to put the fire out while also searching the home to make sure everyone inside had escaped safely.
The blaze worsened when magnesium components in one of the burning cars created explosive white flames, requiring specialized fire extinguishers.
Once the fires inside the vehicles and home were put out, crews focused on stopping the brush fire that had started. It was eventually successfully extinguished.
Other departments that helped battle the blaze included those from Bedford Hills, Buchanan, Millwood, Montrose, Ossining, Peekskill, and Yorktown.
No injuries were reported.
