Daytime Single-, Double-Lane Closes Scheduled For Sprain In Elmsford Motorists can expect delays on a busy stretch of the Sprain Brook Parkway in Westchester during daytime roadwork. The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) says there will be single- and double-lane closures in each direction Tuesday, Sept. 24, through Friday, Sept. 27, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day. The roadwork will be between I-287 in the village of Elmsford and the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Mount Pleasant.

Blaze Breaks Out At Nursing Home In Ardsley Firefighters raced to a nursing home in Westchester after a fire began in its attic.  The blaze broke out just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Atria Woodlands assisted living facility at 1017 Saw Mill River Rd. (Route 9A) in Ardsley, according to the Ardsley Fire Department.  After arriving at the facility, firefighters soon learned that the blaze had sparked in the attic near a washer machine.  Soon after this, the blaze was put out. 4 Rescued After Sailboat Overturns On Long Island Sound Emergency responders from two counties teamed up to rescue several people after a sailboat overturned on the Long Island Sound. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 Marine 7 of the Nassau County Police Department Marine Bureau Unit responded for reports of an overturned sailboat.  With the assistance of the Westchester Police Department, all four occupants were removed from the water and the sail boat was towed to shore by Town of North Hempstead Bay Constable.  The FDNY Marine Bureau was also at scene.  There were no injuries reported.
