Carmel Man Faces Felony Charge After Operating Vehicle With 27 Separate Suspensions
A man with more than two dozen suspensions on his driver’s license is facing a felony charge after being stopped for a traffic infraction in Putnam County, the Sheriff’s Office announced. Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit on patrol on Fair Street in Carmel on Thursday, Jan. 9, stopped a motorist near George Fischer Middle School. A 28-year-old woman was busted for allegedly driving while high on drugs after backing up in traffic. Ulster County resident Shonta M. Drake, of Highland, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 11, after an Ulster County Sheriff's deputy, watched as she backed up in the northbound lane of Route 9W in the Town of Esopus, said Lt. Mahopac Man Driving With Suspended License Had Heroin, Sheriff Says
A Mahopac man has been charged after police say he was found with heroin when driving with a suspended license. Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) say they observed a driver commit a series of traffic infractions in the Town of Carmel on Tuesday, July 16. After initiating a traffic stop, an investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Michael Scauzillo, 51, of Mahopac, was allegedly driving with a suspended New York State license. A female motorist who was allegedly slowly weaving in and out of the shoulder of a Yorktown roadway was busted driving with a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit, police said. A 35-year-old man was killed while attempting to escape police after losing control of his vehicle and slamming into an unoccupied house.According to Middletown Police, the incident took place around 12:53 a.m. Thursday when an officer saw a black 2000 Lexus GS 300 commit a traffic infraction in the area of Cottage Street and Railroad Avenue, the department said in a release.
