Longtime Larchmont Resident Anne M. McDermott, 78, Will Be Missed By Family and Friends
Anne M. McDermott, 78, passed away February 15, 2023. Anne was born May 25, 1944 in Port Chester and was an alumna of Port Chester High School. She lived most of her life in Larchmont with short residencies in Harrison, Pelham, and Stamford, CT. She tried the “snowbird” life for a while before moving to Glendale, AZ for a few years. But she returned and settled in Dover Plains in 2019. She worked for Sears nearly 25 years; then for JAI Press for 15 years. Anne also volunteered with Corporate Outreach. Sears' Last Full-Service Store In Hudson Valley To Close
The last full-service Sears store in the Hudson Valley has announced it will be closing next month after 43 years of serving the community. The Orange County store, located in the Newburgh Mall, announced on Facebook on Aug. 31 that it would be closing its store on Sunday, Oct. 16. A new Target store will be opening at the Danbury Fair Mall. It will take over the space formerly occupied by Sears, according to an announcement made on Tuesday, June 21 by Macerich, owns and operates the mall. A Macy's store in Westchester County will be closing its door as part of the company's restructuring strategy. On Wednesday, Jan. 6, the company announced it will close the Macy's location at the Galleria mall in White Plans, said Carolyn Ng Cohen, director of medial relations. Dollar Tree is closing at least 390 Family Dollar stores and will rebrand 200 others, the company announced in releasing its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings this week.
