NY State Announces Steps To 'Safely Close' Indian Point Nuclear Power Facility
New York is moving forward with its plan to dismantle and decommission the Indian Point nuclear power facility in the Hudson Valley. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a joint proposal on Thursday, April 15 with Holtec International and its subsidiaries to "safely close Indian Point” located in Buchanan, in Northern Westchester near the Putnam County border. With single-use plastic bags becoming banned from New York retailers, Stop & Shop is offering customers a new alternative with free reusable bags. In an effort to ease the transition from plastic to paper when the ban takes effect on Sunday, March 1, Stop & Shop is offering to trade carryout plastic bags for free reusable bags (while supplies last). Cuomo Unveils $178 Billion Spending Plan Filled With Liberal Policies
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has unveiled his annual state budget proposal that includes an aggressive liberal agenda. At the annual traditional State of the State speech on Tuesday, Jan. 15, Cuomo released his $178 billion spending plan that includes progressive voter reform, legal marijuana and safety reform for limousines.
