Police said the robbery took place at 9:27 a.m. Thursday when the man walked into the bank at 1850 South Road and demanded money by passing a note to a teller, said Capt. Kevin Faber. The man indicated he had a gun but did not display one, he added. Residents voted 486-294 to keep their police department Tuesday rather than entering into a shared services agreement with the county which could've saved taxpayers more than $700,000 a year. Last November, Dutchess County Supreme Court blocked an effort by the village to disband its police force and replace it with the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, saying the village did not conduct an environmental review.
