48-Year-Old Hudson Valley Police Detective Dies Suddenly A 48-year-old member of a police department in Westchester has died suddenly. The detective, a 16-year veteran with the Yonkers PD, died on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 19 in New York City after he apparently suffered a medical event while operating a motor vehicle in New York City, according to preliminary indications, the department announced Monday morning, Feb. 20. Police said the robbery took place at 9:27 a.m. Thursday when the man walked into the bank at 1850 South Road and demanded money by passing a note to a teller, said Capt. Kevin Faber. Wappingers Voters Decide To Keep Police Department WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- Wappingers Falls residents are apparently satisfied with their police department. Residents voted 486-294 to keep their police department Tuesday rather than entering into a shared services agreement with the county which could've saved taxpayers more than $700,000 a year.
