The incident took place in Dutchess County in the city of Poughkeepsie around 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13 in the 300 block of Mill Street. During the investigation, the officer removed a “foil” containing an unknown substance from the front pocket of the man in the vehicle, said Capt. 'Sadness, Anger' After 8 Fatal Drug Overdoses In 8 Days Reported In Region Police in the region are sounding the alarm after eight people died from drug overdoses in as many days. All eight deaths occurred in Schenectady between Saturday, July 1, and Saturday, July 8, according to police. The most recent occurred in the city’s Stockade neighborhood. The incident took place on Friday, June 4, in Orange County. Port Jervis Police Officer Ryan Kievit, while off duty, was traveling in his personal vehicle on Route 6 and observed a pick-up truck stopped perpendicular in the roadway blocking both lanes of travel near a curve in the road, said Chief William Worden. Forum On Opioid Crisis Coming To East Fishkill The region's painkiller overdose crisis is the topic on Thursday, March 15, during a Town Hall forum sponsored by the Town of East Fishkill. The forum begins at 7 p.m. in the Town Supervisor's Office. The community forum, titled "the Opiod Crisis in Our Area," is being conducted by C.A.P.E., the Council on Addiction, Prevention and Education of Dutchess County.  There also will be a free Naloxone (NARCAN) training for those interested.
