Lithium Battery Causes Garage Fire In Mahopac While Homeowner Vacations
A homeowner in the Hudson Valley came home from vacation to discover that a lithium battery had started a fire in their garage while they were gone, fire officials said. The incident happened on Tuesday, July 18 just after 2 p.m., when members of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department were sent to a residence in the hamlet to respond to a report of a possible structural fire. Report Of Smoke At House In Carmel Hamlet Draws Fast Response
Unexpected smoke in a Putnam County structure led to a rapid response from fire crews and area police. Shortly after noontime on Tuesday, May 19, crews from the Mahopac Fire Department were dispatched to a Wellington Drive home in Carmel Hamlet, where there was a report of smoke inside the residence. Mahopac Falls Firefighters Save Family's Home
A Mahopac Falls family were able to stay in their home following a fire Tuesday thanks to the quick work of firefighters. The fire, at 85 Concord Drive, started around 1:30 p.m. on the outside of the home, said officials with the Mahopac Falls Fire Department. When Mahopac Falls firefighters arrived on scene they found low-hanging electrical wires as well as a downed tree.
