New Update: I-95 Stretch Fully Reopens After Fiery Crash Causes Days-Long Closure
This story has been updated. A stretch of I-95 in Connecticut has now fully reopened three days after a fire involving a tanker with 8,500 gallons of gas days earlier. Northbound lanes on the stretch in Norwalk reopened Saturday evening, May 4. Lanes opened on the southbound side reopened late Sunday morning, May 5, earlier than had been expected. 20 Cows Die In Tractor-Trailer Rollover Crash On I-84
Twenty cows died during a rollover crash of a tractor-trailer on I-84 in Fairfield County. The incident took place in Newtown around 3:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 19 near Exit 10, said the Connecticut State Police. State Police said the tractor-trailer was carrying 44 live cows and the state Department of Agriculture and Department of Transportation were called to the scene, as was DEEP due to a fuel spill. Preliminary Toll Price Points Unveiled For CT Roadways
As Connecticut continues to dig out of a statewide debt, the Department of Transportation has laid out its preliminary proposed price point for tolls on major Connecticut roadways. Officials announced that they are looking to charge drivers 4.4 cents per mile during peak hours, and 3.5 cents per mile during off-peak hours, though they are still mulling their final plan. Two Seriously Injured In Rollover I-84 Crash
A single-vehicle, rollover crash on I-84 has resulted in serious injuries for two individuals involved, authorities say. The crash occurred late in the evening on Monday, Jan. 28 in Danbury. Danbury Fire Dispatch received a number of calls reporting an overturned vehicle on I-84 eastbound prior to Exit 3, according to James Gagliardo of the Danbury FD. Lane Closures Scheduled As Monthslong Project Starts On I-95
Lane closures for pavement and roadway inspections on I-95 started on Sunday, July 1, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.The intermittent nightly closures, in both directions, will be in Greenwich and Stamford and continue until Nov. 15.
