A state psychologist is accused of sexually abusing numerous underage victims at a New York State juvenile detention center going back years. Maya Hayes, of Albany, was arrested Friday, April 12, following a New York State Police investigation into allegations of abuse at Columbia County’s Brookwood Secure Center, located in the town of Claverack. 5 Catalytic Converter Thieves Caught With Fentanyl In Region: Police
Five people are facing charges after being caught with stolen catalytic converters and illegal narcotics after a traffic stop, police said. On Tuesday, Dec. 20, around 5 p.m. police in Columbia County pulled over a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria in Canaan that matched the description of a vehicle that had been used in the theft of catalytic converters, according to New York State Police. This story has been updated. A man who had been reported missing in the region has been found safe. Columbia County resident Jacob Kulyniak, age 25, of Claverack, had last been seen at around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. A 59-year-old man has died following a crash involving a motorcycle and a school vehicle on a highway in the region. Emergency crews in Columbia County were called just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, with reports of a crash on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Taghkanic, near Post Hill Road. Brazen Black Bear Kills Miniature Donkey In Region
A New York woman is mourning the loss of her beloved pet donkey after the animal was killed by a bear. Columbia County resident Laura-Ann Camissa told News10 ABC in Albany that the attack happened sometime overnight Monday, Oct. 3, at her home in the town of Claverack, where she frequently takes in unwanted donkeys. Daytime Closures Scheduled On Taconic State Parkway In Region
Be ready for possible travel delays on the Taconic State Parkway in the coming days. Road crews in Columbia County will be closing both directions of the parkway between Chatham and Claverack beginning Tuesday, Aug. 16, the NY State Department of Transportation said. Expect Delays: One Lane To Be Closed On Taconic Parkway For Daytime Roadwork
Be ready for possible traffic delays on the Taconic Parkway in the coming weeks. Paving work on the parkway beginning Monday, May 23, will close one lane in both directions in Columbia County between Claverack and Chatham, according to the Department of Transportation. New York State Police arrested numerous people over the weekend in DWI incidents in Orange, Dutchess and Rockland counties. Orange County: Walter Post, 22, of Wallkill, was charged with DWI on Friday after being stopped for a traffic violation on Route 208 in the Village of Walden.
