Stewart's Shops Closes Store In Region Over Crime; PD Chief Says Did 'Everything Possible' Local leaders are speaking out after popular convenience store chain Stewart’s Shops announced it was shuttering one of its locations in the region over growing concerns about crime. On Tuesday, Nov. 14, the company announced it was closing its Albany store located near Central Avenue and Manning Boulevard, citing a rise in thefts, robberies, and violent threats against employees. The store’s last day in business will be Thursday, Nov. 16.
