New Tropical Storm Forms In Active Atlantic: Here's Where Rina's Headed A brand-new tropical storm has formed amid a flurry of activity in the Atlantic basin. As of Thursday afternoon, Sept. 28, the center of newly named Tropical Storm Rina is in the eastern Atlantic, moving toward the north-northwest at around 10 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center.  Maximum sustained winds are around 40 miles per hour with higher gusts.  On the forecast track, Rina is expected to move north-northwest west over open water. Snowfall From Merging Storms Now Expected In Wider Part Of Region A wider part of the region is now expected to see some snowfall from a winterlike storm moving in from the Midwest that will combine forces with the remnants of Hurricane Zeta. Early Sunday morning, Oct. 25, the center of now Tropical Storm Zeta was located over the northwestern Caribbean Sea about 305 miles south-southeast of the western tip of Cuba.
