Salcedo was pronounced dead at the scene, near the New York tower, said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

“We’re still looking into what caused the car to flip,” he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Salcedo was alone when she pulled onto the bridge toward New Jersey, mere blocks from her home.

The upper level was closed completely beginning at 4 a.m. until 6:30, when one lane was opened, Coleman said. The entire upper level was clear by 7:30, and the height of the delays reached about an hour, he said.
