New York State Police said Tuesday that following a lengthy investigation, North East resident Kristian Murtagh was arraigned on a three-count indictment that included a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to police, on Monday, troopers from the Dover Plains barrack arrested Murtagh after he was reportedly engaged in sexual contact with a 16-year-old student at Webutuck High School in Amenia.
Murtagh was charged with an individual count of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of sexual abuse, all misdemeanors.
He was arraigned in Town of North East Court by Judge Casey McCabe and released on his own recognizance. An Order of Protection was also issued, ordering Murtagh to refrain from all contact with the victim and school. Murtagh is due back in court on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
