The woman was headed to the hospital for delivery along with her husband and 2-year-old son when she went into labor around 2:30 a.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Officer Brian McGraw was the first responder. He evaluated the woman for vital signs and triage before turning things over to EMS personnel — before they handed him the 14-ounce newborn for care before transportation just moments later.

All were taken to Beekman Downtown Hospital.

The newborn was named Asenat Abdrabo.
