The upper-level crash around 10:30 a.m. required tunnel and bridge agents from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to cut out the occupants of the van, which was pinned by the rigs.

Both were taken to New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center with undetermined injuries.

One eastbound on the bridge was open, causing delays of more than 45 minutes.
